Flickinger said the limited number of new Buell motorcycles are still available for sale through authorized dealers and production will wind down by October 30. He also stressed that the Harley-Davidson will provide spare parts and service through a dealer and that coverage will continue as usual for Buell motorcycles.
"I'll always be proud of what we have accomplished. This is a testimony to what a small group of passionate and inspiring people to do it, and with a brilliant innovation, we have produced some of the best handling bike of all time," Buell said Chairman and Chief Technical Officer Erik Buell. "I personally hope to explore how I can continue to work with Harley-Davidson to bring advanced technology products to motorists.
"I also have the great fortune to meet and know many Buell riders over the years, and they are wonderful and interesting group of free thinkers," said Buell. "May you ride with pride to the future. And maybe you'll be way ahead as a challenging and rewarding as I have during the last 26 years."
A owned by Harley-Davidson, Inc. since 1998, Buell Motor Company was founded in 1983 by Erik Buell and produces more than 135,000 motorcycles. Over 26 years, Buell motorcycles won many design awards and awards, and countless races and championships all over the world, including the Daytona AMA Pro SportBike championship in 2009.
