2010 CVO Ultra Classic Electra Glide

The 2010 CVO Ultra Classic Electra Glide is a luxury-touring bike limited production. This bike focus on more rider-friendly amenities for the long haul and the comfort of the passenger. H-D has taken the plush passenger accommodations and added adjustable lumbar support to the leather backrest. A knob inside the CVO’s King Tour-Pak adjusts the lumbar up and down. Harley has also added a 12 Volt outlet to the package. The topcase and saddlebags now come with convenient luggage liners.

The King Tour-Pak of the CVO Ultra Classic has removable luggage liners a 12-Volt outlet and a new wrap-around LED taillight. The slight pause in roll-on in the upper gears that I noticed during my recent ride on the factory 2009 Electra Glide is compensated thanks to the extra horsepower of the 219cc-larger Twin Cam 110. Custom paint and extra chrome breathe more attitude into the luxo-tourer. The list of shiny chrome tidbits is long, and includes the fork sliders, billet-style heel/toe shift levers, the upper fork covers and wheel spacers. Color options include Scarlet Red Pearl/Dark Slate with Flame graphic, Riptide Blue/Titanium Dust with Flame graphic, and Burnt Amber/Hot Citrus with Flame graphic.

2009 BMW Motorrad Concept 6 - Riding Comfort with Six Cylinders

Munich. Six-cylinder power unit has always had a special appeal, not only offers the highest smoothness and repairs, but also the power and superior performance and emotional really driving - or, in this case, riding - experience. On the other hand, that sounds typical straight-six is almost like a turbine truly unparalleled, with a straight-six power unit in the BMW has stood up to pull the engine technology in BMW cars for more than seven decades.

Very compact and dynamic six-cylinder.

The starting point for the introduction of this dynamic straight-six in the new concept of the BMW Motorrad 6 is of course a very compact shape and configuration of the machine. Power units of about 100 mm or 4 "more narrow than the former straight-six engine production and only slightly wider than a large-capacity straight-four with conventional technology.

Lightweight high-tech in all areas of construction works to create a relatively lightweight power unit from the beginning, an important component in this context to two holes-drilled camshafts and connecting rod is very light. Perfect compensation is ensured by the mass of the configuration and layout of machines to avoid the need to balance the drive shaft and an element in the new straight six, which again means to lose weight and improve the smooth running.

In layout, the straight-six found in the following well-known concept of a straight 6-K series of four models in 1300, again came to the cylinders lean forward with 55o. This ensures not only a low center of gravity, but also the weight balance is excellent as one important element of all sports under conditions appropriate feelings and clear feedback from the front. A further advantage is that the machine is tilted to give extra space for aerodynamic intake manifold is positioned directly above the engine and allow the ideal configuration of the frame profile with the flow of power.

Straight-six appear in the BMW Motorrad 6 comes with a dry lubricant that concept. In addition to greater reliability even under extreme conditions, technology that works to keep dry crankcase is low and flat, with engines mounted on the bottom and the mass is concentrated around the center of gravity. Doing that without oil, the engine can be positioned much lower than in conventional layouts.

Oil reservoir is provided by the integrated oil tank on the back of the engine block. This avoids the need for a separate tank, once again helped make the whole unit more compact power and reduce the minimum weight.

Maximum supremacy in conducting and performance improvement.

Designed and placed as a straight-six, the engine also opened a new dimension in terms of Motorcycles supremacy, backup power, performance and running repairs.

The output from the new six-cylinder that will be in approximately the same range as the BMW 1.3-liter straight-four power unit. Torque, on the other hand, will be just above the range, even compared to the largest motorcycle engines, such as higher strength and muscle, among others coming from the engine capacity of not less than 1.6 liters.

Engine power and performance characteristics are equally impressive, offering 130 Nm or 96 lb-ft of torque from just 2000 rpm and at the same time for almost 9000 rpm revving - the dynamic potential is unmatched in the segment of tourists. This is just 6 qualifying engine concept as an ideal power unit for a variety of different motorcycles.

Environmental compatibility and economic department redefined.

6 shows the concept of the absolute supremacy of the six-cylinder with a drive system is also in the ecological and economic terms. This fuel consumption the six-cylinder naturally equipped with fully controlled catalytic converter is lower than the comparable four-cylinder under normal touring conditions. The use of E-gas technology (ride-by-wire) and then offers further potential to improve fuel economy and increase the dynamics of riding along the various different modes and conditions. And last but not least in this context, the straight-six power unit contained in the Concept 6 offers long inspection intervals through the use of cups to control the engine valve tappets.

Design a dynamic and strong in the Café Racer style.

Supremacy and dynamism is also clearly borne by the breathtaking design concepts 6 and, as usual, this project from BMW Motorrad is more than "just" an effort to develop a motorcycle of a kind never seen before.

Working on Concept 6, the designers at BMW Motorrad is therefore once again focused on the technical function and quality and, in particular, the emotional elements of human and machine together. Their power, quite simply, is that the motorcycle must not only follow the law functions, but also evokes emotion in all aspects. In short, therefore, the machine should be fairly exciting.

This is the reason why the 6 design concept focusing specifically on strong straight six engine as the heart of the machine. Understood as a mixture of classical styles and modern elements in the construction of motorcycles, Concept 6, with a long front end and short rear, took the design language of the legendary Café Racer. Strong and muscular, body elements extend over the entire power unit in a special platinum color, the engine provides nearly full of love from every angle.

Fine lines and soft organic fully ensure the integration of the power unit inside the machine, while at the same time they make a strong, attractive and dynamic contrasts sharply with contoured front and rear end.

The so-called Split Face, a popular new model design elements from BMW Motorrad, runs smoothly from the front of the prizes along the top of the fuel tank made of carbon fiber, again to ensure high standards of technology and the concept of 6 forms a contrast with the attractive outer shell in aluminum with a white coating. The division into three parts made by Split Face emphasized further in front with LED lights integrated into the engine longitudinally in the form of bars and by a slim LED taillights extending far into the seat hump.

Innovative suspension technology and equipment

Suspension BMW Motorrad Concept 6 is built around light-alloy frame and bridge and Duolever light Paralever hand holding and guiding the front wheels and rear. HP Seventeen-inch forged wheels and extra large brake system with six-piston fixed calipers sport emphasizes appearance of new machines and high-level technology.

The concept of the supremacy of the prominent 6 and drivetrain are also reflected in details such as instrument panel deliberately stored in a minimalist design but fully equipped with all the tools and the necessary measures. While the digital display used to perform the function presents a clear road speed, there is no deliberate consideration rev counter with the highest flow of power at all speeds. So instead of conventional rev counter, LED display shows the driver all the time how much torque is available whenever needed.

2009 Yamaha YZF-R1 - Bred to Perfection

New-generation YZF-R1: Highly purified excitement
The radical and innovative new 2009 model YZF-R1 represents the most significant development in engine and chassis technology ever seen in the 11-year history of this legendary motorcycle.

Since the original YZF-R1 was released into an awe-struck marketplace, Yamaha’s flagship 1,000cc model has established a reputation as being one of the most innovative and exciting motorcycles in the large-capacity supersport class. For 2009 that outstanding reputation is sure to be reinforced more than ever before!

Featuring an all-new 998cc engine whose design, feel and character has been influenced by our championship winning M1, the new high-tech R1 powerplant is closely linked to our MotoGP bike. Indeed, in its long and illustrious history, the R1 engine has never benefited from so much MotoGP developed technology as the 2009 model.

In addition, the completely redesigned aluminium Deltabox chassis and aggressive new styling, give the new-generation YZF-R1 a radical new look and bring innovative technology to the class. In the same way that the original YZF-R1 threw the rule book out of the window, this revolutionary new model sets a new benchmark for the super-competitive 1,000cc supersport category.

Crossplane crankshaft engine for purer torque output
Rather than look exclusively to additional electronic aids to further enhance the new YZF-R1’s performance and controllability, Yamaha’s engineers have opted for a mechanical solution.

The defining and most influential feature of the new YZF-R1 is the use of an innovative new 998cc engine which has been developed from our winning YZR-M1 MotoGP design. Undoubtedly the single most significant piece of technology to be seen on this compact new high-performance engine is its race-developed crossplane crankshaft, which delivers outstandingly pure torque characteristics and high levels of traction. Indeed, the new engine’s linear and controllable torque characteristics are the very essence of this radical new generation YZF-R1.

Uneven firing interval for new levels of feel and traction
The new engine’s uneven 270° - 180° - 90° - 180° firing interval creates a whole new feel to the inline 4-cylinder engine, giving the new YZF-R1 rider a more precise and immediate feeling of control over the torque output levels. In addition, the new engine’s linear torque delivery gives rise to a confidence-inspiring sensation that makes each throttle input, however subtle, feel as though it is transmitted directly to the rear tyre.

The result of this rider-responsive torque is an enormously capable 1,000cc supersport motorcycle that is designed to deliver previously unattainable levels of traction for unrivalled cornering performance.

To accentuate the performance gains of the new crossplane crankshaft engine, we have also developed a new short-wheelbase aluminium Deltabox chassis and optimized the front and rear suspension systems. And the radical and aggressive new styling emphasises the new YZF-R1’s concentration of mass and dense compactness.

Engine

Newly-designed inline 4-cylinder engine with crossplane crankshaft
This remarkable new 998cc liquid-cooled inline 4-cylinder 4-valve engine features bore x stroke dimensions of 78.0 mm x 52.2 mm, giving an extremely short stroke layout, together with the largest bore dimensions ever used on a Yamaha 1,000cc supersport engine. In association with the short stroke and big bore, a high compression ratio of 12.7:1 is featured, which contributes to the new engine’s impressive power output of 133.9 kW (182 PS) at 12,500 rpm, and a torque output of 115.5 Nm (11.8 kg-m) at 10,000 rpm with natural aspiration.

Engine Technical Highlights
• MotoGP-developed 998cc liquid-cooled inline 4-cylinder 4-valve DOHC
